The Whirlpool Refrigerator Water Filter 1 (WHR1RXD1) is a solid choice for keeping my drinking water fresh and clean. It’s easy to install, and I noticed an immediate improvement in water taste. I appreciate that it’s certified to reduce 99% of lead and other harmful contaminants — that’s a big plus for my family’s health.
The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that finding the compatible model took a bit of extra effort, and the filter itself feels a bit pricey compared to some alternatives. Still, the quality and peace of mind it provides make it worth the investment. I'd definitely recommend it for Whirlpool fridge owners.

Defective product
If I could give zero stars I would. I was sent a defective filter. Whirlpool wouldn’t even talk to me about a replacement or refund as 90 days had passed. If the filter is changed every six months, how would one know it is defective in 90 days? Never again for a Whirlpool product with this sort of customer support.

Faulty filter only lasted 3 weeks
I signed up to get 2 filters annually. Within a month of replacing my filter, the water in the fridge stopped running. I put in the second filter and the water started running again. I called to complain about the defective filter and they said they would send a replacement as a courtesy. They provided tracking info. I saw it sit in Alpharetta GA for 10 days. When the replacement arrived, the packaging had obviously been opened (probably at the shipping hub in GA??). No way I am going to put this "replacement" filter in my fridge. I will not call them for a replacement since they made it sound like they were doing me a favor the first time. Replacing a faulty filter is not a "courtesy", it is a business requirement. I felt like they were questioning my integrity.
I am cancelling the annual replacement schedule. I'll pay extra locally to make sure I have a sealed filter.
