In-The-Wall Dryer Vent Periscope

This In-The-Wall Dryer Vent Periscope is designed to fit between the studs inside the wall of your laundry room to carry the exhaust air into the attic or floor space. It features one male snap-lock fitting and one female snap-lock collar and mounting strap; (2) clamps are also included. This product is a universal accessory item compatible with several brands; check to see if your model number is compatible. Installing this accessory will require basic hand tools and novice repair experience. You must unplug the dryer or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ed53 from Great product Not sure if the product was changed but i am not having the same problem as the negative reviews. yes there is only one piece that telesopes into the other but my other two pieces have a slideable collar used to connect two pieces with the same dimensions. this alllows you to connect those pieces and fasten with three sheet metal screws as code requires then sealing with ul approved foil tape. i cannot speak to the gauge as to whether it is code compliant material but in my case i was able to create an in wall duct with the 4 pieces in the kit greater than the 96” wall height. what i don’t understand is why the kit say extendable to 77” when it could go way more than that.

Rated 1 out of 5 by D.S. from Design flaw Very disappointing that a brand name accessory simply doesn't fit together, only the top section is built slightly bigger to allow other sections to telescope inside it, but all other sections are identical dimensions so impossible to assemble to full length as the instructions show. I see other reviews with the same problem, should have been forwarned, hope someone actually tracks these comments and corrects the design.

Rated 1 out of 5 by StuckWithIt from Not Code Compliant for In Wall Use It seems that the dimensions aren't compliant with the mechanical code section 1502 for dryer venting. Not sure if it's 28 gauge or the equivalent of a 4 inch diameter pipe.

Rated 1 out of 5 by DisappointedinWhirlpool from poor quality I bought this through Lowes thinking what a great way to extend my dryer vent from the basement floor to the outside behind the wall. The only problem besides the shody craftsmanship (warped from end to end like a bad 2 by 4) was the fact that it was supposed to have 2 pieces that telescope into two other pieces for extending in the middle of the two end pieces but comes with 3 pieces that are the same width X Depth making it impossible to periscope all but the two ends together. Others cut the excess out and taped it all up. I refuse to pay so much just to have to modify it. Their tech support was useless but did agree it seemed like deceptive advertising. Most you will get out of this kit is maybe 30 inches. Too bad, this could have been a life saver if the pieces were just like the instructions said they should be. Now I am going to use regular 4 inch round exposed.
