Rated 3 out of 5 by gsa11 from Average At Best This DU1055 XTVS dishwasher is quite loud at 55 decibels. After only a few years, many of the prongs on both the top and bottom racks have rusted and broken off. New replacement racks will cost more than a brand new dishwasher! And they must be assembled as well. The silverware basket is removable for easy unloading, however, it very clumsy to attach back to the lower rack and constantly falls off because two very small pieces of plastic are supposed to hold it in place. The latch for the cover of the basket also broke off within the first month, leaving just a loop of metal that is now keeping it closed. Water will pool on any glass or vessel that is not perfectly flat even after the dry cycle is completed so you will need to hand dry most items. I LOVE my +20 year old Whirlpool washer and dryer and choose the Whirlpool brand when I needed a new dishwasher and anticipated of the same great results. I am really disappointed with the quality of this dishwasher and will need to replace the whole unit now after only a few years of use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by LadyGray from It cleans very good for the past 6 years later Pros: cleans dishes like it did when I first bought it... Excellent. Lots of features. No maintenance problems. Nice exterior. Lives up to expectations. Removable silverware basket. Cons: Noisy but rather have the grinder than not. Dish carts showing weak prongs and starting to break off in places. Hard to load dishes at first compared to my older model but I got use to it. Flatware basket not roomy and can be a pain to load.

It cleans dishes pretty well, except for the really stuck on stuff but we're constantly having to rewash flatware because it didn't get clean in the rack. My biggest problem is that it's LOUD. I've got an open concept first floor and I always have to crank up the TV volume while it's running. It was ok as a starter dishwasher but I'm ready to upgrade to something quieter and more energy effcient.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Pops Malone from It cleans great...when it works. Purchased and installed in August 2010, the unit has worked fine for the past 4 years. Then it quit. Maybe it's a circuit board. The technician will have to solve that problem. Will cost over $200 to repair. I would think Whirlpool could manufacture a product that would work longer than 51 months.
